Description:

They are captured especially with natural fish bait and cuted fish. Artificial lures like middle water and deep water plugs can also be used.

Tips:
Watch out for the spiny pectoral and dorsal fins when handling the fish.

Description:

Catfish. One of the largest hide fish (it can longer than 59 inches and
weigh more than 220lbs).its body is thick and short; large flat head. The color can vary from light brownish-green to a darker shade on the back, with a white abdomen; the "youngsters" have light spots on their back.

Baits;
Only natural baits such as
small scale fish and giant worms.

Tips:
This bottom fish can be caught in the deep pools under the
rapids, especially at night.

Description:
Catfish, large size. One of it's characteristics is the
enormous size of it's head, with a strong bones and with a pre-dorsal bone plate. It's one of the most colorful catfish in the Amazon Region. It's colors are very beautiful with a greenish brown back, yellowish middle part of the body and the whitish abdomen. The dorsal and caudal fins are sort of orange. It can excite 4.2 ft long and weigh a little over a 110 lb.

Bait:
This species is caught exclusively with natural bait, whole fish or in filets.

Tips:
The best for the pirarara fishing is the dry season, on river mouths or a long the main
channel.

Description:

Bait:
Artificial lures, such as top water and middle water plugs, spoon and spinners are the most common for the bicuda fishing, however natural baits like small fish or piece of fish can also be used.

Tips:
The
friction should be well adjusted because the bicuda usually takes on a lot of line when it is caught. Use very sharp hooks to make the catch easier.

Description:
Scale fish that can be of 44 lb and longer then 3.2 ft, it's color is almost black on the back, gray on the sides and whitish abdomen.

Bait:

Tips:
Be careful when removing the hook from the trairão's mouth because it's bite is strong and it's teeth are sharp.

Description:
Scale fish. There are at least 14 species of peacock bass in the Amazon, but five have been officially recognized so far: Cichla Ocellaris, C. Temensis, C. Monoculus, C. Orinocensis, C. Intermedia. The size can vary: adult can go from 1 ft to over 3.2 ft long and weigh up 28 lb or more. The color may be either yellowish, greenish, reddish, almost black, etc. The shape as well as the number of spots, also vary: they
can be big, black and vertical; or white evenly distributed throughout the body and fins. It varies quite a lot from one subspecies to another. However all peacock bass have a round spot on the caudal pedicel.

Bait:
Basically all kinds of lures can used to attack the peacock bass, but surface plug fishing is the most exciting the peacock bass "explodes" on the surface to catch the little fish.
