      Trophy Lake Trout & Arctic Grayling fishing in Canada's Arctic

 
Tukto General Information
What to Bring - Our plane limits each guest to no more than 50 lbs. of personal gear. Insulated clothing and your regular fishing clothing are adequate. Gortex fabrics provide an excellent wind break and waterproof. Gortex boots or rubber boots with warm socks for footwear. Do not bring hip boots as we provide some at the lodge for you to use. (sizes 8-12) Don't forget your gloves and cap.
Tackle and Lures - Bring your favorite medium to heavyweight rod and reel with 20 lb. test line for Trout and an ultra-light Rod and reel for Arctic Grayling. We have spare rods and reels at the camp for you to use. We also have a good selection of fishing lures, leaders and line at the camp.  Please note: All hooks are to be single barbless.
Other Items to Bring:
* 4 1/2" spoons. Daredevils
   & Len Thompsons (yellow
   with red diamonds, blue &
   silver, red and white, etc.).
* One small tackle box per
    person with just the
    tackle you will need.
* Needle-nose pliers.
* Insect repellent (Muskol 
   or Repel).
* Camera with lots of film
* Bring your own bath towel.
* 30 lb. test wire leaders, 12"
    or 24" long with good
    swivel lock.
* Fillet knife.
* 1/4 - 1/2 oz. Little Cleo
   spoons (orange and blue
    with silver).
* small swivels.
* You can bring one carton of cigarettes and one 40 oz. Bottle of liquor across the border. We have liquor, beer and cigarettes available at the camp.
* Assorted spinner baits
   and #1 Mepps spinners.
* Spare fishing line (#6 &
   #20 test line).
Don't forget any medicines or other personal needs that you require.

CUSTOMS:
PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP - Passports or Visas are not required for citizens of the United States of America, but you should carry some proof of citizenship (A voter's card, birth certificate, or baptismal certificate).
LIQUOR - Each person of legal drinking age is allowed to bring across one case of beer or one 40 oz. bottle of hard liquor without paying duty.
CIGARETTES - Each adult over the age of 16 may bring across one carton of cigarettes (200).
GROCERIES - Each person is allowed to bring a reasonable amount of groceries for their stay.
PETS - Cats and dogs may enter with a written rabies vaccine certificate dated within the last 6 months.
HANDGUNS - Handguns are prohibited.
AMMUNITION - Visitors to Canada may import 200 rounds of ammunition for hunting purposes free of duty and taxes.
DUTY FREE SHOPS - Duty free shops are tax free stores in our area that waive federal and state tax.
OTHER INFORMATION - Seat belts must be worn at all times. Radar detection devices are illegal.
CREDIT CARDS - Most American credit cards and principal bank cards are honored in Canada. (VISA is most widely accepted in Canada.)
HEALTH INSURANCE - It's recommended that visitors to Canada obtain traveler's health insurance before leaving the U.S. Health plans often do not extend coverage for services received outside the country of residence. Visitors may find they have either no health insurance or inadequate coverage when in Canada.
HOSPITAL and MEDICAL SERVICES - Canadian hospital and medical services are excellent, but rates vary, so traveler's health insurance is recommended. Visitors taking medicine prescribed by a doctor should bring a copy of the prescription in case it needs to be renewed.
RE-ENTERING THE U.S.
48 HOURS OR LESS - If you were in Canada for 48 hours or less, you may bring back $200.00 or less back to the US duty free. No limit if goods made in Canada, US or Mexico if for personal use.
OVER 48 HOURS - If you can document your stay in Canada exceeded 48 hours, you may bring back $400.00 in purchases tax free. No limit if goods made in Canada, US or Mexico if for personal use.
TOBACCO AND ALCOHOL - If you are eligible for the $400.00 exemption, you may bring back one carton of cigarettes or 100 cigars regardless of your age. If you are 21 years of age or older, you may bring back 1 litre (33.8 fl. oz.) of alcoholic beverage, if it is for your own use or a gift. Check with US Customs on restrictions.
Metric Conversion - Canada uses the Metric system. Visitors will find weather reports given in degrees Celsius, gasoline sold by the litre (milk and wine by millilitres and litres), grocery items in grams and kilograms and clothing sizes in centimetres.
